Our Aim:
Cameron Duce Forever 22 Memorial Association Incorporated operates as a Not For Profit Incorporated Association and is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not For Profits Commission.
Our charity registration can be found here.
The Association has the following Goals and Purpose:
1: to raise awareness of the dangers and life changing consequences of Coward Punches/Coward Strikes to both the victim and the perpetrator and their families and friends. This will also include the effect it has on the community, from the direct local repercussions in the local area, to the emergency services workers involved directly and the ongoing medical care involved (emotional and financial). There is also consideration given to the wider community including trust and safety concerns, policing, the law and legal outcomes for anti-social and unprovoked violence.
2: commemorate and celebrate Cameron David Duce as an ongoing part of the awareness campaign. By keeping Cameron's memory alive and relevant it adds weight to the campaign by being able to show Cameron as a real person who was and is still loved and missed by many. To show others who don't know Cameron about his life, his family, his mates, his employment and his future, and how quickly it can all be taken away. This gives the cause direct personal relevance and helps other people see that this can happen to anyone, at any time, as opposed to Cameron just becoming another statistic and talking about numbers.
Our mission:
Currently the Coward Strike laws are only applied if there is a fatal outcome, CRIMINAL CODE 1899 - SECT 314A; Unlawful striking causing death.
We know there are thousands of cowardly assaults and attacks on people that result in various forms of injury, whether physical, mental and/or emotional, and some of it is life changing. These cowardly attacks don't meet the current legal definition of Coward Punch/Coward Strike, so we seek to have the "causing death" clause was removed. We want to have the Coward Punch/Coward Strike laws strengthened and expanded moving forward so they can be applied to other cowardly assaults and attacks, with the hope that it will help to reduce the number of these types of attacks happening in the future. We believe this would be a very welcome change to the law by the wider community, and we believe it would contribute to overall community well being and safety.
